Kenyan musician Nixon Wesonga, better known as Visita, has revealed heartbreaking details about the past year of his life, including being kicked out of his house due to rent arrears and enduring months of homelessness.

The Mapepo hitmaker, who once dominated the airwaves with his signature beats and vibrant personality, spoke candidly during an interview with content creator Oga Obinna. Visita disclosed that he was evicted from his rental apartment a year ago and had to survive by taking on menial jobs, including working at construction sites.

According to Visita, his troubles began during a season of heavy rainfall, forcing him to sleep in the cold for three months. He said he did not immediately leave the apartment compound after his eviction but found corners to hide and survive. Hunger became a constant companion.

Eventually, a friend offered him a lifeline—temporary shelter in a recording studio in Mirema. While grateful, Visita admits that staying in the studio is not a permanent solution. The space is meant for video production and clients, and any business activity could displace him at any time.

“This place helped me heal. I was losing my sanity. I can’t complain because it gave me some peace,” he said, reflecting on the mental toll of his experience.

Visita’s biggest concern now is accessing the tools he needs—musical equipment that could help him revive his career. Despite the hardship, his passion for music remains strong.

During the live interview, Obinna appealed to fans for support. Viewers responded generously, and by the end of the stream, Visita had received KSh 35,000 in contributions, offering a glimmer of hope as he works toward stability and a comeback.

Visita’s story is a powerful reminder of how quickly fortunes can change, even for celebrated public figures. Yet, it also shows the strength of community and the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity.
