WhatsApp announced on 20th June, 2023 that it has introduced a new feature that allows users to automatically silence incoming calls from unknown contacts. The new feature, called “Silence Unknown Callers,” is designed to give users more control over their privacy and to help reduce the number of spam calls they receive.
To turn on the Silence Unknown Callers feature, users can go to Settings > Privacy > Calls and select the “Silence unknown caller” option. Once this option is turned on, calls from unknown numbers will be automatically silenced and will not ring on the user’s phone. However, the calls will still show up in the call log so that users can see who has called them if they want to.
“We’re always looking for ways to give people more control over their privacy,” said Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta. “With this new feature, people can now choose to automatically silence calls from unknown contacts, which can help reduce the number of spam calls they receive.”
The Silence Unknown Callers feature is available now for all WhatsApp users.
In addition to the Silence Unknown Callers feature, WhatsApp has also introduced a new Privacy Checkup tool. The Privacy Checkup tool helps users review their privacy settings and make sure that they are set to the level of protection that they want.
The Silence Unknown Callers feature and the Privacy Checkup tool are just two of the ways that WhatsApp is working to give users more control over their privacy. WhatsApp is committed to providing a safe and secure platform for communication, and these new features are a step in that direction.
