The Governors Startup Challenge (GSC) is a flagship program of Youth Empowerment Program Initiative (YEPI), designed to help young entrepreneurs to learn, design and earn by building sustainable businesses while at the same time developing new solutions to community challenges. GSC promotes an entrepreneurship ecosystem and develops innovative, tailor-made approaches to scale and support youth enterprises that address Environmental issues, Education, Health, Blue Economy and others. Through the program, early-stage entrepreneurs receive training to launch or scale their venture, are mentored by world-class mentors and join a strong network of change-makers and social entrepreneurs committed to solving the world’s greatest challenges.
The third edition of the Governors Startup Challenge will bring together 10 best and brightest entrepreneurs from around the Coastal region of Kenya for a 7 days boot camp of intensive business development program that includes; Design Driven Entrepreneurship, Business Model, Financial Literacy, Technology Commercialisation, Critical Thinking, Social Inclusion, Leadership Development, and Networking. The one-week Boot camp is filled with fun and stimulating learning activities, providing participants the chance to meet, connect and explore Diani and surrounding areas. The Boot camp culminates in a live pitch competition before a panel of expert judges and invited guests. The winner(s) receives equity funding of KES 100,000 to help them launch or scale their businesses that highlight profitability, social impact, and sustainability.
