Lucy was born in 1962, has become the first elected senate in Australia after the High Court of Australia nullified the election of his close opponent, Bob Day during the election of 2nd July 2016.

Here are some of the interesting facts you did not know about Lucy Gichuhi

  1. Lucy grew up in a small village, Hiriga, Nyeri County, in Kenya
  2. She is the first born of Justus Weru Munyiri, amng other 10 siblings
  3. She relocated to University of Nairobi where she was trained as accountant, she worked for several firms before flying to Australia
  4. She moved along with her husband and 3 kids.
  5. In Australia, she worked at Ernst and Young and the South Australian Auditor-General’s department developing programs for migrants and international students
  6. At the University of South Australia, she studied law and completed in 2015, she also volunteered as a legal worker for women
  7. Lucy Gichuhi is also married with 3 girls
  8. She lost her Kenyan citizenship because Kenyan government could not allow dual citizenship, she had to apply again when Kenya got the new constitutiion
  9. Gichuhi becomes the first elected leader in Australia parliament of Kenyan decence.
  10. Lucy does not believe with the local politicians habit of giving out voter bribes inform of handouts
