British Prime Minister Theresa May touched down in Nairobi around 6.00am in the morning of Thursday 30th August at JKIA before she headed to State House.

At the State House, she was honored by a 19-gun salute before she proceeded to inspecting a guard of honor. Later held bilateral talks with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The PM also laid a flowers at late Mzee Jomo Kenyatta’s mausoleum to mark his 40th anniversary since his death in 1978.

Below are some of the facts you should know about British PM Theresa May

1- He was born on October 1, 1956 (59 years old), Eastbourne, United

Kingdom.

2- Her maiden name is Theresa Brasier.

3- Studied geography at the University of Oxford.

4- She met her husband, Philip May, in his university stage, when he was

introduced by Benazir Bhutto, former prime minister of Pakistan, murdered in

2007

5- She married Philip on September 6, 1980.

6- She has no children.

7- She is a practicing Protestant.

8- She is in favor of homosexual marriage, although in 2002 she voted against

granting them the right of adoption.

9- Among the things she liked most is walking and cooking (she has more than

100 recipe books).

10- Worked in the world of finance, including the Bank of England, in the 1980s.

11- She is considered one of the toughest and most astute policies in the United

Kingdom.

12- Entered the House of Commons for the first time in 1992.

13- In 1997, after two failed attempts, she managed to be elected as a Member

of the Conservative Party by the constituency of Maidenhead, in Berkshire.

14- In 2002 she became the first woman to occupy the general secretariat of the

Tories, a position she held for two years.

15- She was one of the great defenders of ending the “disgusting” image of the

Conservative Party and drove a very young -39 years- David Cameron to the

conservative leadership

16- In 2006, she founded the Women2win association to defend women’s

access to Parliament.

17- She has become the highest-ranking political woman in the United Kingdom

after being appointed by former PM David Cameron Minister of the Interior in 2010.

18- Cameron also appointed her in 2010 Minister of Women and Equality, a

position she abandoned due to overwork.

19 – Today, she is the person who has held the longest in front of the Ministry of

the Interior in more than a century.

20- The fight against terrorism and immigration reform have been her two main

objectives during her time as minister.

21- Despite being a supporter of the UK’s permanence in the EU, she has

maintained a relative low profile during the Brexit campaign.

22- She diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in July 2013.

23- She is extremely dedicated to her work: she usually goes through all her

papers until 2am and returns to work at 6am.

24- She has a reputation for responding to all the Christmas greeting mails

received on Christmas Eve.

25- She is passionate about shoes: with animal print -she took them during a

reception with Queen Isabel II-, in patent leather, with all the colors of the

rainbow.  She does not hide her passion for this accessory.
