- Ruth Matete was born 34 years ago in 1986. She was raised up by her dad since her childhood. She grew up in Nairobi. Ruth will later discover her talent in singing rising to become a singer and a songwriter in the gospel industry
- She was born out of wedlock while her parents were still in high school. Ruth started off living with her mum but she could not stand the child abuse from the step-dad, she moved on with her biological dad Abel Amunga (legendary actor) in Nairobi
- Again, in Nairobi she would undergo another form of mistreatment from her step-mother, forcing her dad to divorce and remain single for life
- Ruth went to Dr Krapf and Uhuru Primary School before joining Maasai Girls and St. Paul’s Erusui for high school education
- She would later join Daystar University for a degree in Mass Communication in 2005
- Ruth began her career in singing when she would perfom in funerals, weddings and church services. Her big break came in 2012 when she contested in the 2012 Tusker Project Fame hosted on Citizen TV
- Ruth won a cash prize of Ksh. 5 Million and went ahead to give 500,000 as tithe to her church. She was ridiculed for spending the cash on luxurious and missing out on investments.
- In November 2019, she married a Nigerian singer John Apewajoye in a private wedding hosted in Nairobi. Her husband would later die in April, 2020 due to a gas fire fixing explosion at their house. John had been married to another woman in Nigeria with two kids
- John’s manager Jesse accused Ruth Matete of foul play in John’s sudden death accusing her of marriage violence towards John.
