Having learned lessons from 2013 Westgate attack, Kenyans demonstrated one of the best terror response in history and handled the situation more professional than it was witnessed.
From the victims, security agents, government and health officers, no doubt they made Al Shaabab less happy then they did during 2013.
However, there are those who were still caught on the wrong side of the terror attack and flopped in a way it angered Kenyans.
Here are top 10 flops during the deadly attack that claimed 14 lives and left hundreds injured.
International media
New York Times and Daily Express were on spot for going over the required journalistic standards while reporting the attack.
NY Times published dead bodies on their pages, raising down the dignity of the fallen innocents and fuel the agenda of the terrorists
Daily Express, on their flop side, asked international travellers whether it was safe to travel to Kenya after the attack.
One could wonder if they asked similar question during recent attacks in Europe and America
Steve Mbogo
He is already under police investigation for attending the crime site armed with dangerous weapons.
To make the matters worse, he recorded and took self photos with dead bodies.
Mbogo is a former Starehe MP aspirant on ODM ticket.
Police Boss Joseph Boinnet
Boinnet did a good press release, but not without a clear point and direction for the media which was running up and down for news and relevant information.
At one moment, he looked not sure who attackers were.
However he never did so bad like his predecessor David Kimaiyo
Francis Gachuri
While interviewing his fellow Henry Githaiga who had just escaped the building, he kept begging him to disclose crucial info that would help the attackers and their sympathizers.
Despite Henry being caution and letting him know this, Francis was not letting him go
Social media
While social media was very cautious, others were quick to share bloody scenes, propaganda and fake news during the attack.
Others were even disclosing key hide out places making it easy for attackers to strike more.
Local media
Local media especially newspaper on 16th January splashed horrific and bloody pictures in bid to show how the issue and terror attack was heinous.
But this did not make logic since the attack itself was so satanic and cowardly conducted
President Uhuru Kenyatta
For the whole day of 15th during the attack, he kept silent and Kenyans wondered his whereabouts.
He only came to light on 16th when the issue was done.
CS Fred Matiangí
It also took Matiangí hours to show up for the press. Known for his quick and swift measures, the Interior CS was this time to slow.
Not until late night when he showed up for the press, and even so made more errors and mistakes.
The most vital one, claiming that all the building had been secured by 11pm, yet fights could be heard and explosions even in the following morning at 6.am
KTN’s security expert guest
On of the guest speakers on KTN claimed that the hotel under siege was foreign owned.
This made it sound sweet for the attackers who want to create fear that Kenya is not ideal for investment due to security.
He needed to avoid this knowing the result was not good.
Terrorists work hard to target foreigners, but keeping this low key destabilizes their plans
Miguna Miguna and Boniface Mwangi
While everyone else was drumming up any kind of support to the victims and rescue operations, these two Kenyan celebs without shame went harm on the self country and traded the negative side of the operations.
It is no doubt their were failures to be pointed out, but this was not the right moment.
After the situation had been controlled, they had all the time on earth to criticize the downfalls of the operations
