Minor or small accidents happen especially in squeezed up parking bays such as shopping malls or near big town centres.
When you are in a rush, it is very easy to brush someone’s car, this might be a small mistake but what you do afterwards will determine its impact and your honesty.
Trying to run away will turn out to be a criminal offense, or even trying to rub it off.
Here is what you should when you find yourself in such a situation
- Take nice photos of the vehicles involved in the small accident
- If you do not have a camera or a smartphone, ask for help from witnesses and even possible they could help in taking photos
- Look for CCTV in the area, it will help to provide visual evidence for insurance firms
- Always take note of the make, model, colour and registration plate of the damaged car in addition to pictures
- Leave behind your details (your full name, address and best contact phone numbers) for the damaged car owner to contact you.
- Write down how the accident happened- I was reversing in a small parking way before it hit the rear car
- Also write down the time and date when the accident happened
- Do not forget to write an apology for the owner
- Give out your insurance company and your policy number
- Place the note on the vehicle or leave it with security guards
