The Kenya Forest Service (KFS) is a State Corporation established under the Forest Conservation and Management Act (FCMA), 2016. The mandate of KFS is to protect, conserve and sustainably manage forest resources for socio-economic benefits for the present and future generations. In addition, KFS provides technical advisory services to the County Governments to execute their respective devolved forestry functions.
KFS invites qualified, performance-driven and highly motivated individuals to fill the positions of Forest Ranger, Forest Assistant and Forester. This willenable the Service to fulfill its mandate effectively and drive the country towards the attainment of 30% tree cover by 2032, from the current 12.13%.
The terms of employment for these positions will be on permanent and pensionable basis upon successful completion of the training and subsequent confirmation.
1. FOREST RANGER –REF KFS /FR/2023 – KFS GRADE 12 – (2,000 POSITIONS)
Entry Requirements
i. Must be a Kenyan citizen;
ii. Must have a National Identification Card;
iii. Minimum of D+ (Plus) in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (Examination result slips SHALL NOT be accepted);
iv. Be aged between eighteen (18) and twenty-eight (28) years;
v. Be of 5.6 ft (men) and 5.3ft (women) in height;
vi. Be physically and medically fit;
vii. Female candidates should not be pregnant before recruitment and during training and;
viii. Have a valid Clearance Certificate from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation.
In addition, successful candidates will be required to:
i. Undergo further medical check-up at the Forest Law Enforcement Academy;
ii. Undergo rigorous nine (9) months Forest Law Enforcement (Para-military) training and;
iii. Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
Interested candidates are expected to present themselves at their respective recruitment centres as indicated below at 8:00am on Wednesday, 8th March, 2023. Candidates are expected to present both original and one (1) photocopy each of Kenya National Identity Card, Academic Certificates and Testimonials. Each candidate should ensure that they collect their original documents before leaving the recruitment centre. Recruitment of the Forest Rangers will take place in all recruitment centres as tabulated below;
Note: Only candidates interested with the Forest Ranger Position are required to report to the Recruitment centers.
2. FOREST ASSISTANT III – REF KFS/FAIII/2023 – KFS GRADE 12 – (40 POSITIONS)
Entry Requirements
i. Must be a Kenyan Citizen;
ii. Holder of a Certificate in Forestry from a recognized institution;
iii. Minimum of D+ in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education;
iv. Proficiency in computer applications and;
v. Have a valid Clearance Certificate from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation.
In addition, successful applicants will be required to:
i. Undergo rigorous Forest Law Enforcement (Para-military) training and;
ii. Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
3. FORESTER II REF-KFS/FII/2023 –KFS GRADE 10 – (260 POSITIONS)
Entry Requirements
i. Must be a Kenyan citizen;
ii. Holder of a Diploma in Forestry from a recognized institution;
iii. Proficiency in computer applications and;
iv. Have a valid Clearance Certificate from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation.
In addition, successful applicants will be required to:
i. Undergo rigorous Forest Law Enforcement (Para-military) training and;
ii. Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya
How to apply (Applicable to Forest Assistant III & Forester II ONLY);
Step 1:
Interested candidates who meet the requirements are asked to apply by visiting Kenya Forest Service website: http://www.kenyaforestservice.org and select the JOBS TAB to proceed with the online registration. Following successful online registration, the candidates will receive a notification email.
Step 2:
In addition to the online registration, applicants MUST PRINT and attach the NOTIFICATION EMAIL as the first page of the hard copy application. The hard copy application should clearly indicate reference number for the position applied for and attaching current curriculum vitae (clearly indicating the mobile number, names and contact details of three referees), copies of relevant testimonials, academic and professional certificates and a copy of National identity card. The application should clearly be marked with reference number for the position applied for and should either be sent through the post office or hand delivered to the address provided below in a sealed envelope marked “APPLICATION FOR (WRITE POSITION & REFERENCE); so as to reach Kenya Forest Service not later than Tuesday, 7th March, 2023 by 5.00pm.
The application will not be considered complete unless the two steps are successfully undertaken. Further, submission of the application through email shall not be considered.
