One of the major areas that people have never never mastered is time management. People who succeed in life have a high level of discipline and use their time more effectively and practice good time management skills. Time management is not very difficult as a concept, but it’s surprisingly hard to do in practice. It requires the investment of a little time upfront to Prioritize and organize yourself.

If you plan what to do and when, and then stick to it, then you will have time. This involves conditioning or re-conditioning your environment. Time management is more about conditioning your environment rather than allowing your environment to condition you. Below are three practices that will help you to make the best out of your time.

1. Create an effective environment for yourself

For you to make the best out of your time you need to create an effective environment and maintain an organized working place. Protect your time by isolating yourself from others when working on a project in order to avoid disturbances. Achievement through goal management is also important, it will helps you to focus on your goals. Learn how to avoid procrastination and laziness while working on your goals.

2. Set goals and have priorities

Set some personal goals and have priorities that will guide you on how to achieve those goals. For instance, Work in priority order-one should set goals and prioritize which goals ought to be achieved first.

Set gravitational goals that attract actions automatically. These goals may be broken down into a project, an action plan, or a simple task list. For individual tasks or for goals, an importance rating maybe established, deadlines may be set, and priorities assigned. This process results in plan with a task list or a schedule or a calendar of activities.

3. Use the ABC Analysis

This is a technique that have been used in business management for a long time is the categorization of large date into groups. These groups are often marked A, B and C hence the name. Rank your activities are ranked by these general criteria.

  • A – Tasks that are perceived as being urgent and important
  • B – Tasks that are important but not urgent
  • C – Tasks that are unimportant and not urgent

Take each group as ordered as a priority with ‘A’ being the most important and urgent task.
