Have you heard about the land of beautiful people? I need not say maybe you should visit Kenya is see how it is blessed with gorgeous and intelligent ladies and handsome men from different tribes. After the horrific post-election violence, the Kenyan youth decided to try and kill the demon of tribalism by starting to intermarry with people of different ethnic backgrounds. This has been happening and still is but they are meeting challenges both from internal and external factors. Here are things to expect when intermarrying in Kenya.

3 Things To Expect When Inter-Marrying In Kenya

1. Disapproval from family
When a man let’s say from western Kenya and a lady from central Kenya decide to tie the knot, they are bound to face challenges on matters of approval from their families. Some may be given ultimatums of either canceling the marriage or being disowned. Times are changing and some communities and individuals are accepting inter-tribal marriages but there are some who are still refusing to embrace the change. If the couple is strong enough, then their marriage will last and be blissful if not, their love will be trampled down.

2. Rejection by friends
When you decide to inter-marry in Kenya, it is expected that some friends may not accept your choice due to their own believes. Some may try to separate the two of you by speaking negatively about people from your partner’s tribe or may even try to hook you up with someone else they see fit for you. Since they do not see that special thing that you see in your loved one, its time you get a new pack of friends and ditch those that want to choose for your heart.

3. Different behavior from partner
The fact that you took that leap of faith and love and decided to build a relationship with a person from another tribe means that you are ready for anything. There are many things that you do not know about her customs and traditions. Therefore, be ready to see your loved one react to some things in a way you did not expect. Some may be from a tribe that is known to be very temperamental or very calm. Thus be ready to learn which will actually be a good experience for you since every day, you will learn something new.
Do not let anyone stop you from loving who your heart chose. After all, you had no say in who your father married. Its time tribalism was eradicated in Kenya by the youth.
