Unpaid internships also have their positive side. If you received a proposal, but are afraid of making the wrong choice, here are the 3 questions to consider before deciding:
1 – Is the internship in your area of study?
If the unpaid internship is to work in an area outside your area of study, do not accept it. It doesn’t make sense to work 6 hours a day, for free, in an area that will hardly complement your resume. But if the internship meets your area of study and is a recognized company, it may be interesting to accept the position.
2 – Is it your dream job?
If you were asked to do an internship at a large company or for the job of your dreams, it is worth accepting, even if you do not get paid. Take advantage of this opportunity and stand out so you can get a job at the company.
3 – Do you have the willpower required?
Working for free is a big challenge for anyone. Several studies show that employees who receive salaries work more, better and perform better. If you think that the experience will bring you things as good as money, accept the vacancy.
4 – Is the internship period long?
Internship vacancies with long-term unpaid contracts may not be a good idea. As good as the opportunity is, will it be worth it to work at the same company for several months without receiving anything?
