Avoid ATMs that are located on the far end of the street especially at night. Also, do not enter an ATM if there is no security guard present.

Learn to count your hard earned cash in front of the machine or in the corner of the ATM while counting cash.

Most people forget to take their ATM card after the transaction.Always make sure both the cash and your card are in your wallet before you leave the machine.

4. Laziness to report your lost ATM card immediately

Incase you misplace your ATM card, report the incident to the nearest  bank branch immediately.

5. Not subscribing to SMS alerts

Currently every bank in Kenya provides this facility. The quick SMS will help you keep track of  transactions. Also, there are times when the ATM machine debits money from your account but doesn’t dispense the cash. In such cases, the SMS alert will help you learn about the transaction and promptly report the incident to the bank.
