Negativity as we all know is a cause for distraction. Negative emotion can impact on our lives causing harm to our health and even our jobs. We all need to do away with the negative emotions but most of us do not know how.

Well take a look at these easy things to you can practice to kick out negativity.

1. Listening to motivational materials

This can include songs or tapes of motivational people giving speeches.

Pick up some kind of motivational audio program, and try listening to it for at least 30-minutes a day for a week, and see what effect it has on your attitude and your actions. It uplifts your spirits giving you a positive outlook in life. I think you’ll find that this habit is one of the best you can develop.

2. Reading uplifting material

Not all people are very keen on listening but literature works best for them. When having negative feelings it’s good to leave those sensitive or political materials instead go for a nice uplifting piece of literature. There are plenty of great books and articles that can help keep your attitude positive. A few of those include 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Think and Grow Rich and Awakening the Giant Within.

3. Meditation

This involves quieting the mind to create awareness as to what thoughts you are actually thinking. The more mindful or aware you become of the constant stream of negative thoughts that flow through your mind the more you feel the need to eliminate them. Meditation allows you to you to realize that not all thoughts are sane or are necessarily based on reality so it’s ok to do away with them.

4. Listening to your heart.

This is where you listen to the actual feeling at a given situation and analyze how they make you feel. Most times negative thoughts instantly create a negative feeling of being frustrated, irritated, angry, jealous and afraid. When you identify this you can be able to switch your mind to something else you enjoy doing as these things suck your energy leaving you exhausted.

5. Stop focusing on the worst

Stop looking at the glass as half empty; this is a negative mind set instead look at situations from the positive side as every situation has two sides.

For example if you lose a job, don’t obsess on it so much. Look at it as a chance to go for that new job you have been wanting but have been holding back as there is now nothing holding you back.

Do not just sit there and allow negative thoughts ruin your life, try some of these to escape the negativity and you will live a more full filling life.
