The set of disorders of the blood vessels and heart are named as cardiovascular diseases. In that sense, cholesterol levels and triglycerides have been associated with heart disorders, overweight and obesity.

Diseases always arise from some imbalance; excesses, in this case: people with high levels of triglycerides (hypertriglyceridemia), usually have low HDL cholesterol (good cholesterol) and high LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol).

If we consider that there are two sources of triglycerides and cholesterol: the one we ingest with food and the one produced by the liver and both end up circulating in the bloodstream; a balanced diet will be the basis for its control. In sumédico.com we tell you how to control the levels of cholesterol and triglycerides, through the diet:

  1. Reduce the level of saturated fat and cholesterol (viscera, seafood and sausages are those that contain more cholesterol)
  2. Limit of simple sugar (cookies, jam, chocolate, soda, ice cream, fruit in syrup or honey)
  3. Comply with your daily fiber requirement (25 to 30 grams per day) that comes from natural foods.
  4. In the specific case of high triglycerides, avoid the maximum amount of alcohol.
  5. Keep track of your weight and diet in a journal, so you can easily identify your successful strategies and those in which to improve.
  6. The low intensity exercise will be allied in your treatment: at least 3 hours per week (1 hour each day).

Remember that cholesterol and triglycerides are necessary for the proper functioning of our body since the former participates in the hormonal synthesis, while the latter make up the reserve or energy store in our body: the ideal value of triglycerides, measured with Blood tests should be less 150 mg / dl and greater than than or equal to 200 mg / dl.
