Kenya has the most medals among all African countries who competed in the Rio 2016 Olympics, and also the most gold wins.?

1. David Rudisha – 800m

David Rudisha, aka King Rudisha, is a Kenyan 800m athlete with two gold Olympic medals to his name. He is the 2012 and 2016 Olympic champion, world champion, and world record-holder in the men’s 800m race. The 29-year-old athlete is the only man in five decades to successfully defend his Olympics title twice.

2. Jemima Jelagat Sumgong – Women’s Marathon

The 32-year-old Rio 2016 Olympics champion of the women’s marathon race is also the winner of the London, Rotterdam, and Las Vegas Marathons. Her personal best time is 2 hours 20 minutes and 48 seconds.

3. Faith Chepngetich Kipyegon – 1500m

Faith is a 22-year-old Kenyan middle-distance runner and the winner of the 2016 Olympic Women’s 1500m gold medal. She has won gold medals at several other events including the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, 2011 World Youth Championships in Athletics in France, and 2012 World Junior Championships in Athletics in Barcelona.

4. Conseslus Kipruto – 3000m steeplechase

The 21-year-old Kenyan middle-distance runner in men’s steeplechase. He won the gold medal for the Rio 2016 Olympic men’s steeplechase with an Olympic record of 8:03.28. Kipruto is also the winner of 2011 World Youth and 2012 World Junior titles. His personal best time is 8:00:12 minutes.

5. Vivian Cheruiyot – 5000m

The 32-year old is a Kenyan long-distance runner who specialises in track and cross country running, Olympic champion in 5000 metres event. She set an Olympic record with 14:26.17 in Rio.
