But finding an internship in Kenya may be quite a hustle. Most people end up wasted. Thousands of students miss the chance to do this due to the lack of good guidance on the best way forward. Here are tips of ensuring you secure yourself an attachment or internship to enrich your skills.

  1. Consult your department

Though many students ignore this, many of the people who work in the department have a lot of formidable links to companies and parastatals that would need interns. Most of these organizations are very important to your career because in the end, the department knows the best place for you to acquire skills that are germane to your career. So, next time you want an internship, make sure you consider the advice of your Kenyan University department.

  1. Send letters And emails

Some university students dream to work in a specific organizations. But even if it your own seem too novel, you’d obviously wish to get there for an industrial attachment. You will need to post a letter or send them an email, if you really are serious. In it, ensure you get your priorities and objectives right. Obviously, you note that a serious company will need serious interns as well. Your resume should therefore prove beyond reasonable doubt that the organization in which you want to get attached also needs you.

  1. Visit their offices in person

Nothing convinces that personal appearance. When you get to the offices of the organization you want to get attached, you will have convinced that that you are not only available to work, but also, willing. You will need your resume and documents at this time. Moreover, more than anything else, you will require to be plosive enough. Speaking will really save you out here.

  1. Check out for commercials

You need to be informed about the different organizations that are offering internship opportunities. It is here that you might find one that needs people like you. Most organizations want to attach individuals to help do a number of things within the office, field and other organizational departments. Only ensure you don’t end up in a department or organization that is not in line with the skills that you need. As it were, an internship or attachment is much more than just a time to socialize.

  1. Talk to people

Your peers, the alumni, mentors and other people could be very resourceful. Ensure you have them in plenty. Good links to the associates, alumni and such kind of people will save you a great deal especially when you need an attachment. Frankly, it is no longer a fallacy that ‘life is who you know’. You will need to know a number of important people if you want to get up there.

Many students, especially at their 3rd year, find it hard to get attached. By now, you have obviously found at least one way you can maneuver your way to an industrial attachment or internship of your desire.
