If you have lived, then you have had absolutely mortifying experiences where alcohol was involved at least once in your life. After all, no great story ever started with ‘That one time I ate a bowl of salad…’

While on a date, however, one needs to be in full control of their drinking and especially if you’re one of those people that cannot handle their alcohol. You certainly don’t want to give your date the wrong impression.

Here are rules of drinking on a first date:

1. No shots!

Even if your friends think that you deserve a trophy for being so good at handling your alcohol, never take shots on a first date.

2. Stick to a certain number of drinks

If you order for one drink, you may come off as a party popper or boring. Take two to three drinks. Do not order  for more the minute you start feeling tipsy. Always have water on the table to stay hydrated and never experiment on a drink you have never tried before. Stick to your usual poison.

3. Drinks for the man

Girls judge a man by the drink he orders for. If a man orders for a glass of sweet wine or a girly cocktail, I’d think of him as a softie. A man needs to be a little tough…beer is always a safe option. If you’re a classy gentleman, go for whiskey on the rocks. Oh and not the whiskeys you’d see on the average millennials Snapchat videos. Gentlemen drink scotch whiskeys and vodka martinis! Leave the Hennessy’s and the likes to the 20 youngs!

4. Eat prior to

Do not drink on an empty stomach. Eat prior to your date or while on the date, grab a biting such as beef sliders or a wrap.

5. The bill

The man should foot the bill on the first date. If you’re broke, there’s no reason you should be asking women out on a date keep ya broke ass home!

6. Lastly, do not drink and drive

If you want to impress your date with your car, you can do that on another occasion that doesn’t involve alcohol. Take a taxi or order for an Uber.
