If you have not yet been to your first job interview, know that some questions are transversal, and as such, they always end up being asked, regardless of the position or company you are applying for.

Can you start by introducing yourself? Tell us a little about yourselfWhat are your strengths? What are your biggest weaknesses? Why would you like to work here? Why did you leave your last job?Tell us about an obstacle that has arisen along your path and how you managed to overcome itWhat are your salary expectations?

We also know that no matter how much experience you have, there will always be some nervousness. However, get ready now for the next job interview – which will certainly have many of these questions – and know what to answer:

Can you start by introducing yourself? Tell us a little about yourself

This being the most classic way to start the interview, you will have about 2 or 3 minutes to talk about the various areas of your life that are relevant to this job. Nobody wants to know what your childhood was like. With this question, what is intended is to be succinct and relevant when relating the vacancy in question with your personal, academic and even professional career, if you already have some experience.

What are your strengths?

When answering this question, keep in mind the qualifications and necessary requirements described in the job offer. Take the opportunity to add other points that are relevant to this job and that can highlight you from the other candidates. It may include experiences outside the country, for example.

What are your biggest weaknesses?

Avoid clichés, but don’t be too honest. Saying you can never make it on time will certainly not guarantee you a job opportunity. Saying that you don’t take orders very well, either. Think of something that doesn’t compromise you, for example, “my friends say I’m too organized”. Also pay attention to the refutation of the defects presented.

Why would you like to work here?

Show them that you knew how to do your homework and that you knew how to research the company and the position. Never, but never be desperate for any job opportunity or mention that you applied for the job because of the salary amount.

Why did you leave your last job?

If you ended up leaving due to problems with your boss or with a colleague, resist the temptation to speak ill of this person or of these people, you will only show a lack of professionalism. The best option is to explain that you are looking for an opportunity where you can grow and have good career prospects, such as the company you are applying for.

Tell us about an obstacle that has arisen along your path and how you managed to overcome it

Knowing how to solve problems is an important quality in any job. Present them with something that demonstrates that you can handle the pressure of everyday life and communicate well with colleagues.

What are your salary expectations?

Before going to the interview, find out about the average salary in your area, with your experience and your age. From here you can present them with a salary cap, a maximum from which you are willing to negotiate.

And if you are looking for a job opportunity, or to enrich your resume with a paid professional internship, also check out the other opportunities posted on the Working Network. Register and leave us your updated curriculum.
