Being late when doing business and personal commitments is frowned upon, because it makes you see that you don’t take things seriously and that you are poorly organized. It also has to do with the respect you have for the time of others.

Kenyans have a reputation for being untimely.

On the other hand, there are those who believe that time is money, and that the loss of this implies the loss of money.

However, the above is not a pretext for being late. If you are one of the people whose perception of time is slower, we present the decalogue to start arriving on time for your business appointments and the rest of your commitments.

  1. Recognize that you have a punctuality problem and work on it.
  1. Identify the reasons for your lateness and counteract
  1. Use a clock, even if it sounds a little simplistic, it will allow you to know exactly what time it is and take forecasts to arrive at your commitments in time.
  1. Schedule only the number of commitments you can attend. Do not saturate your schedule with many commitments, this will help you not be late, perhaps because in some of them it will take more time than you have planned and second because at the end of the day you will be exhausted both physically and mentally.
  1. Schedule business commitments early. A tip is to start the day with those more complex issues to free up your agenda towards other less important commitments.
  1. Plan a day before the route to go to your commitment, this will allow you to know more accurately the time that the transfer will take. Consider 10 more minutes for any setback.
  1. Prepare everything you will need for your meeting the day before, this is clothing, material and documents.
  1. If you are already late, contact the person with whom you will have the commitment, to apologize for the delay and indicate the delay time.
  1. Try to arrive 10 minutes early to your commitments and meetings.
  1. Use an alarm that tells you to go out to your meeting.

Being upright is a matter of principle and is a reflection of who we are and what seems important or not to us. So the next time you’re late, remember that the big business you’re planning can be ruined by not being on time.
