Gor Mahia midfielder Khalid Aucho has been approached by top Scottish side Rangers FC for a possible transfer.

According to sources who are privy to the matter, the Uganda Cranes combative midfielder has been recommended to Rangers FC by former Gor Mahia coach Frank Nuttall.

Nuttall, a Scot, managed Aucho during his 16-month stint as Gor Mahia coach before his departure in February 2016.

News of Rangers interest in Aucho has also been reported by Daily Record, one of Scotland’s leading newspapers.

The paper quoted the 22 year old player confirming that tentative talks have taken place between his representatives and officials of the Glasgow based club.

“It is true that Glasgow Rangers have approached me. They are interested in my services and as a matter of fact I want to join them,” Aucho said.

MOST SUCCESSFUL CLUB

Managed by Mark Warburton, Rangers FC – boasting 54 league titles, 33 domestic cup honours, and a UEFA Cup crown – is the most successful club in Scotland.

Aucho, who has been linked to various football teams in South Africa, Vietnam and Zambia in the past year, is at the very least expected to undergo a rigorous trial lasting upto two weeks at the Ibrox, if he is to  eventually make the move.

Aucho should also brace himself for a long battle to secure a work permit to work in Britain, but having played consistently over the past four years for Uganda Cranes, which is currently ranked 72nd on the updated Fifa rankings, the former Tusker midfielder could atleast convince the Home Affairs Office in Britain that he is an exceptional talent.

A move to Scotland for Aucho would vastly improve on the status of both the Kenyan Premier League and Gor Mahia FC, who have been mentioned in the Daily Record.
