In a dramatic turn of events, two women who were abducted a week ago have been rescued by a joint team of detectives from the Crime Research & Intelligence Bureau and the Operations branch.

The victims, Erica Gachoka, 26, daughter of media personality Ciku Muiruri, and her friend Shanice Agose, 27, went missing on June 4 after attending a house party in Nairobi’s Westlands area.

According to the information gathered so far, after the party, Erica and Shanice requested a ride through the popular Bolt taxi application to Kilimani.

However, as they got into the car along Rhapta road in Westlands, the driver brandished a hammer and threatened them before speeding off towards Thika.

Immediate investigations were launched into the abduction, and the detectives started trailing the suspects who were suspected to operate between Nairobi, Thika, Ruiru, and Witeithie in Kiambu County.

Shockingly, the abductors demanded a ransom of Sh250,000 from each victim for their release.

Yesterday, the joint team of officers raided a house located in the Ngoigwa area of Thika, leading to the arrest of two suspects identified as Timothy Kiragu, 34, and Samuel Kipkurui, 33.

Following a brief interview, the arrested individuals provided information that led the detectives to Gatukuyu in Mang’u, Kiambu County, where the two kidnapped women were found and rescued.

During the operation, the investigators recovered assorted crude weapons and fake motor vehicle number plates from the suspects, which suggests a possible involvement in other criminal activities.

The recovery of these items highlights the dangers posed by such criminals and the need for effective law enforcement efforts to combat their activities.

Meanwhile, Erica Gachoka and Shanice Agose, visibly weak and shaken from their ordeal, have been reunited with their families. The victims were found in a one-roomed house where they had been locked up, highlighting the horrific conditions they endured during their captivity.

The successful rescue operation serves as a testament to the dedication and commitment of the law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation.

The prompt response and diligent efforts of the Crime Research & Intelligence Bureau and the Operations branch have ensured the safe return of the abducted victims and the arrest of the suspected kidnappers.

As investigations continue, authorities are urging members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or information that may aid in combating similar criminal acts.

The authorities have also provided the toll-free hotline number #FichuakwaDCI (0800 722 203) for individuals to share any relevant information that could assist in ongoing investigations.

The rescue of Erica Gachoka and Shanice Agose serves as a reminder of the importance of collective efforts in combating crime and ensuring the safety of citizens. The swift action taken by the authorities demonstrates their unwavering commitment to protecting the community and bringing perpetrators of such heinous acts to justice.
