Renowned former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has promised to lend a helping hand to Isaac Otesa, better known as the Bungoma Goliath, after Otesa made a heartfelt public plea for assistance. The towering figure, famous for his extraordinary height, revealed the struggles he has faced living in Kayole, Nairobi, where he has been enduring a difficult situation without proper food and shelter.
In an interview, Otesa shared his plight, stating, “I’m staying in a friend’s house, but I’m struggling. I need help. Sonko is a kind-hearted person, which is why I approached him. I am hopeful he will respond to my plea.” His appeal was covered by TUKO.co.ke, bringing attention to his urgent need for assistance.
Responding swiftly via X (formerly Twitter), Mike Sonko assured Otesa that he would step in to offer him a lifeline. Sonko expressed his intention to provide Otesa with a job, stating, “There are no handouts at the moment; we are in high season, and businesses are booming. Let me give him a job and the basics so he can plan his life.” In addition to offering employment, Sonko pledged to investigate Otesa’s claims of exploitation by a former manager who allegedly mishandled his endorsement deals. “I will push for investigations into how he got swindled by those who helped negotiate those endorsement deals for him. They should return his money or go to jail,” Sonko added.
Otesa, who had enjoyed some fame in the past, has been struggling after his visibility faded. In his public response to Sonko’s pledge, Otesa expressed great excitement and gratitude, saying, “I’m so happy to hear that Sonko has responded to me. He has not contacted me yet, but I am sure he will. I am so delighted. May God bless him.”
