Kenyan businessman Simon Kabu recently shared a heartfelt video detailing the journey of starting Bonfire Adventures, one of Kenya’s leading travel agencies. In a post shared on his Facebook page on December 5, Kabu spoke candidly about the company’s humble beginnings and how it grew into a successful venture. Co-owning the agency with his wife, Sarah, on a 50:50 basis, Kabu highlighted how their partnership was integral to Bonfire’s rise.

According to Kabu, the business was formed in 2007 “accidentally,” with the involvement of a few other peripheral individuals. Despite the challenges, they successfully built the company from the ground up. He explained, “We started it accidentally, but we became successful. We own the company 50:50, and we work together as a team. We are only two shareholders, and that is in the public domain. I am the CEO, while Sarah is the managing director.”

Despite the ongoing drama in his personal life with Sarah, Kabu assured the public that Bonfire Adventures would continue to operate smoothly. He addressed the rumors with a philosophical perspective, saying, “Hizo maneno zingine mnaskia ni kelele za chura. Haziwezi zuia ndovu kunywa maji,” which translates to, “Some of these things you hear are just the noise of frogs. They cannot stop an elephant from drinking water.”

The couple’s personal life has been in the spotlight recently due to allegations involving Sarah. A CCTV video surfaced online showing Sarah allegedly assaulting a woman, which led to a public dispute. In response to these claims, Sarah admitted to the altercation but denied that the woman in question was her domestic worker. She later paraded her two house helps in a video to dispel rumors that the woman in the video was her maid.

The situation escalated further when Simon confirmed that the woman assaulted was indeed their nanny. He disclosed that the nanny had reported the incident to the Kiambu Police Station, but Simon had intervened to have the case dropped. Despite these personal challenges, Simon Kabu emphasized that the business remains unaffected, and they will continue to work together to maintain its success.

Bonfire Adventures, a brand known for its competitive pricing and innovative travel packages, continues to be a symbol of resilience for the Kabu family, even as they navigate their personal struggles. The company’s future remains strong, driven by Simon and Sarah’s vision and commitment to the travel industry.

This story of personal and professional perseverance is an inspiration to many entrepreneurs, showing that with determination and teamwork, it is possible to overcome adversity and achieve success, even in the face of public scrutiny.
