Congolese music legend Koffi Olomide landed in Kisumu for a highly anticipated concert that left fans disappointed and skeptical of his upcoming Nairobi performance. Many had paid up to KSh 15,000 for a VVIP experience, expecting to see him perform alongside his famed Quartier Latin Band Orchestra. However, the event fell short of expectations.

What Went Wrong in Kisumu?

Fans who attended the Kisumu concert were met with disappointment as Koffi Olomide took to the stage solo, armed with only a flash disk. While curtain-raising acts performed with full bands, the maestro lip-synced to his songs and spent much of his time recording himself on his phone, leaving fans feeling short-changed.

“Everything was good until Koffi appeared on stage with just a flash disk. We expected more,” lamented one attendee. Another fan expressed frustration, saying, “We paid KSh 15,000 for VVIP tickets, and here he is recording himself. Can’t he trust anyone else with his phone?”

Nairobi Fans Are Skeptical

Koffi is now set to perform in Nairobi on Saturday, December 20, at the Sankara Hotel, with ticket prices ranging from KSh 20,000 per person to KSh 30,000 for couples. However, the Kisumu debacle has left fans doubtful.

Social media has been flooded with mixed reactions:

  • @waltermugunda: “Again? After the Kisumu selfie show?”
  • @adlyana27: “He will come with a flash disk again.”
  • @knowleys80: “My problem is not even with Koffi but the promoter. To me, it’s always a flop.”

A Troubled History

This isn’t the first time Koffi Olomide has faced controversy in Kenya. The promoter behind the upcoming Nairobi event, Jules Nsana, previously sued Koffi for a failed 2016 concert that cost him KSh 10 million after the singer was deported for allegedly kicking a dancer.

Can Koffi Redeem Himself?

As the Nairobi show approaches, many fans are questioning whether Koffi will redeem himself or repeat the Kisumu disappointment. Only time will tell if the music icon can deliver the world-class performance fans expect.

With tickets priced steeply, Kenyans are left wondering if the event is worth the gamble or if it will be another flash disk fiasco.
