Popular Kenyan musician Kevin Bahati has spoken out about the nickname ‘Bibi ya Tajiri’ that fans have given his wife, Diana Marua. The term, which translates to ‘Wife of a Wealthy Man,’ is commonly associated with socialite Amber Ray, sparking comparisons between the two women. However, Bahati clarified that the moniker originated from fans and was not something he or Diana actively embraced.
Bahati’s Response to the Nickname
In a recent interview with YouTuber Commentator, the ‘Mama’ hitmaker explained that the nickname was a product of public perception rather than a title they assigned themselves. He acknowledged that their lavish lifestyle, including extravagant gifts such as a Mercedes G-Wagon Brabus and a luxury apartment, may have contributed to the perception of immense wealth. However, he emphasized that he has not yet reached the level of success he desires.
“Mimi bado ni mtoto wa mama, mtoto wa Diana. I don’t think I have reached the level of being rich like I want to be. If the fans think we are rich, well and good, but at the end of the day, let’s keep respect for this couple. God has blessed us, and we have been able to achieve things that others in the industry may not have, but there is still more to do,” Bahati stated.
Diana Marua’s Take on the Moniker
Diana Marua also shared her thoughts on the issue, making it clear that while she acknowledges the nickname, she does not have control over what others call her.
“I call myself Aunty Madooh, and my husband is the one with the money. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I can’t control what people say. I just let it be and move on,” Diana said.
Respect for Amber Ray and Kennedy Rapudo
Bahati took the opportunity to address the comparisons between Diana and Amber Ray, stating that he holds Amber and her partner, Kennedy Rapudo, in high regard.
“God has blessed us so much. We usually try not to engage in unnecessary fights, but I respect Amber Ray very much. I have not yet met Rapudo personally, but I believe they are doing well at their level and should be respected. They are doing a great job, and I consider them friends,” he added.
Amber Ray’s Response to the ‘Bibi ya Tajiri’ Title
Amber Ray has previously addressed criticisms surrounding her use of the ‘Bibi ya Tajiri’ moniker. She dismissed critics who questioned her claim to the title, arguing that if they believed their own husbands were wealthy, they could also refer to them as ‘Tajiri.’
The comparisons between Diana and Amber highlight the influence of social media in shaping public narratives. While both women continue to build their brands, they have made it clear that they are focused on their personal growth and success rather than online debates.
Bahati’s response serves as a reminder of the importance of respecting public figures and their families while recognizing the role that fans play in shaping perceptions in the entertainment industry.
