A heated exchange recently took over social media when Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, Nyandarua Senator John Methu, and nominated Senator Karen Nyamu became embroiled in a war of words. The fiery debate, which included political jabs, witty comebacks, and sharp criticisms, quickly went viral, leaving many netizens both amused and concerned about the tone of political discourse in Kenya.

Why the Clash Began

The exchange began when Sudi targeted Methu in a post, claiming they were not on the same political level. This comment followed an incident where MP Kimani Ichungwah was heckled at a political event, with Sudi blaming Methu for the disruption. Known for his boldness, Sudi didn’t stop there—he further criticized Methu’s signature full beard, accusing him of lacking hygiene. Sudi’s provocative message read:

“It’s just laughable how political novices would dare call for a punching contest with political engineers. Wewe sio rika langu la kisiasa (We are not on the same political level). Nyoa kwanza. Shave first before we start arguing.”

Methu’s Witty Response

Methu, never one to shy away from a good political jab, responded in characteristic style. He mocked Sudi’s tone, saying:

“Sasa andika bila kumwaga kamasi (Now write without spilling phlegm),”

This witty response garnered attention for its cleverness and quickly became a favorite among social media users, many of whom praised Methu for his quick wit.

Karen Nyamu Weighs In

As the back-and-forth heated up, Karen Nyamu, known for her outspoken social media presence, entered the conversation. Nyamu took a more critical stance, advising Methu to focus on progressive politics instead of relying on outdated tactics. She posted:

“This is outdated politics. You are a young politician with a bright future. Be progressive, take us to the future, not the past.”

Her comment added fuel to the fire, drawing both praise and backlash.

Methu’s Counterattack

Methu wasn’t about to let Nyamu have the last word. He responded with another cheeky remark that took the conversation in a new direction. He quipped:

“You can get a bigger …, but there’s no surgery for bigger brains.”

This remark left social media users in stitches, further fueling the viral nature of the exchange.

Nyamu’s Other Controversial Remarks

In a separate incident, Karen Nyamu sparked outrage with remarks she made about Mt. Kenya voters. In a video that surfaced online, Nyamu claimed the government had already “touched Murima” (referring to the region’s leadership) and was now moving further, which led to an outcry. The comments were made while Nyamu was seated in a car with Gatundu North MP Elijah Njoroge Kúrúria, on their way to the Mt Kenya region during President William Ruto’s tour.

The exchange between Sudi, Methu, and Nyamu highlights the ongoing tensions within Kenya’s political landscape, where personal jabs and witty remarks often dominate discussions. While the banter provided entertainment for many, it also raised questions about the tone and direction of political discourse in the country. Whether these exchanges are a sign of healthy political engagement or a step backward remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: Kenyan politicians are not afraid to voice their opinions—even when it means taking shots at each other.
