A Song of Longing, Closure, and Emotional Depth

In an exclusive reveal, Pety Nila described Shibe as an emotionally charged love song that dives into the complex themes of longing, closure, and emotional connection. The word “Shibe,” which means “satisfied” in Swahili, carries deeper meaning in the song’s lyrical context—touching on the search for peace and emotional fulfillment after heartbreak.

“Shibe is a tender, emotionally charged love song that speaks to the complexities of longing, closure, and emotional connection,” Pety shared. “Even though I live far from Kenya, I want my fans to feel my presence and emotions through my music.”

Stunning Visuals and Strong Vocal Chemistry

The single is accompanied by a cinematic music video set against moody, atmospheric backdrops. Through expressive storytelling, the visuals reflect the song’s themes of love, vulnerability, and healing. Pety’s soulful voice, paired with Paradize’s smooth delivery, creates a striking duet that blends Afrobeat grooves with East African melodic influences.

Their vocal chemistry shines through the track, bringing authenticity and passion to the performance. From powerful solo shots to intimate emotional moments, the video tells a relatable story of rediscovery and emotional release.

Overcoming Distance and Staying Motivated

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Pety Nila opened up about the difficulties of staying relevant in the Kenyan music scene while based in Germany.

“Releasing music when you are far from home is not easy, but we have to continue doing so to entertain our fans. Collaborating with local artists in Kenya is even harder, but that has not stopped me from doing collabos,” she said.

Despite the challenges, her commitment to staying connected with her fan base remains firm. The success of Shibe proves that distance is no barrier when passion and purpose are strong.

A Taste of What’s to Come

Shibe is the first single off Pety Nila’s upcoming EP titled “0verdose”, which she teased will feature a mix of Afrobeat, R&B, and Swahili soul. The EP promises to be a bold showcase of her evolution as a singer and songwriter.

As anticipation builds for the EP’s release, fans can look forward to more emotionally rich music that blends authenticity with genre versatility. Pety’s ability to translate real-life emotion into melody has made her a standout voice among Kenyan diaspora artists.

Staying True to Her Roots

Even as she builds her career in Europe, Pety Nila remains proudly Kenyan and passionate about sharing her culture through music.

“My roots are my foundation. No matter where I go, I’ll always sing in Swahili and collaborate with East African artists,” she affirmed.

With Shibe, Pety Nila not only reconnects with her audience but also reaffirms her place in the evolving Afrobeat and East African music scene. As she prepares to unveil “0verdose,” one thing is clear: her journey is far from over, and fans can expect even more powerful music in the near future.
