Simon Kabu and his daughter Maurine turned heads at the fourth edition of the Ngemi Festival in Naivasha after arriving in spectacular fashion aboard a luxury helicopter. The pair, known for their influence in Kenya’s travel industry, made a statement that blended opulence, tradition, and family values—earning applause both at the venue and online.

The father-daughter duo arrived at the venue in a sleek white chopper, branded in the colours of Maurine’s company, Adequate Safaris. The helicopter ride was a surprise from Maurine to her father, a gesture that not only thrilled Simon Kabu but also elevated the event’s already vibrant atmosphere. As the aircraft descended, excited fans and festivalgoers rushed to the landing spot, eager to greet the pair who have become household names in Kenya’s tours and travel scene.

Both Simon and Maurine wore matching traditional Kikuyu attire, but it was Simon’s elder ceremonial headgear that gave him a regal edge. The look was widely praised online, with fans noting the elegance and cultural pride on display. Videos from the event showed the two mingling with attendees, influencers, and celebrities as they soaked in the cultural richness of the growing Kikuyu festival.

Sharing the moment on Facebook, Simon expressed his joy, saying, “Woooow! Today I had a blast! It’s not my birthday but at 51 years, life is never very serious. Work hard but play hard. Surrounded by my top fans, I’m having a good time in Naivasha. What’s your best song ever?”

The Ngemi Festival, now in its fourth edition, is fast becoming a key fixture on Kenya’s cultural calendar. It celebrates Kikuyu music, food, art, and fashion, drawing thousands of enthusiasts from across the country. The Kabus’ arrival marked one of the event’s highlights, reaffirming their status as trendsetters not only in business but also in cultural engagement.

Just days before the festival, Simon made headlines when he gifted Maurine three high-end off-road Land Cruisers to support her travel business. The Bonfire Adventures CEO praised his daughter for her dedication and described the gift as part of his mentorship journey, not just a financial boost. Maurine, who leads Adequate Safaris as managing director, expressed gratitude for her father’s support, saying it was a pivotal moment in her entrepreneurial growth.

The grand chopper entrance at Ngemi Festival has only strengthened the admiration many have for the Kabus. From business excellence to family unity and cultural pride, their story continues to inspire a generation of Kenyan entrepreneurs and fans alike.
