Comedian Eddie Butita has stepped in to defend content creator Flaqo Raz after a viral comedy skit drew criticism from forex traders. The skit, which humorously portrayed forex trading scenarios, sparked debate online, with some traders feeling personally targeted.
In an Instagram video shared on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, Butita clarified that Flaqo’s skit was purely for entertainment and did not single out any individual or company. “This story of Flaqo and the forex traders is really funny. You know, Flaqo did not mention anyone. He was just making jokes, but some people felt offended and responded aggressively,” Butita said.
Butita praised Flaqo’s comedic skills and the virality of the content, urging audiences to appreciate the humor rather than criticize it. He emphasized that comedy is subjective and not every joke is meant to offend. “As the Swahili saying goes, let those who praise the rain be praised. Flaqo created his comedy on forex perfectly and it blew out; he did not mention anyone, but some people felt targeted,” he added.
Flaqo Raz, whose real name is Erastus Otieno, also addressed the controversy during an interview with Oga Obinna on August 11, 2025. He explained that the skit was inspired by a viral forex meme commonly circulated on social media and was intended purely for comedic effect. “It is a meme; everyone talks about it, and I did not mean to target anybody. The guy removing the shorts was called Ken. Then, I saw in the comment section and thought, this coincidence is too much, but I did not target anybody; I cannot do that to anybody,” he said.
Flaqo stressed that his content is created with good intentions and a lighthearted approach. “Mimi nikitoa content, huwa siyo ya ugomvi, it is just out of a pure heart, just making fun of the situation,” he explained.
The skit previously prompted forex trader Kafuri to block Flaqo on Instagram and indirectly criticize him, highlighting the sensitivity around content that touches on professional fields. Butita’s defense underscores the importance of understanding comedy as a form of entertainment and separating intention from perceived offense.
Flaqo Raz’s viral skit continues to circulate online, serving as a reminder of the fine line comedians navigate when creating humor inspired by trending social media content.
