Renowned gospel artist Dar Mjomba has shared details of the trauma he endured after being wrongfully imprisoned, revealing the mental and physical toll it took on his life. In a candid interview with TUKO.co.ke and the Atomic TV YouTube channel, Mjomba recounted how a trusted former manager framed him, leading to his arrest.

The Moyo hitmaker explained that the fallout with his ex-manager began after personal advances he did not reciprocate. “He was in love with me, but I am not gay, and I rejected him. That’s when things started to take a dark turn,” Mjomba said. Following this disagreement, he was falsely accused of stealing studio equipment valued at KSh 150,000, including cameras and tripods. “I don’t even know how to operate a tripod stand, let alone a camera. So why would I steal the equipment?” he questioned.

Mjomba highlighted that the legal proceedings occurred during the COVID-19 era and were partly virtual, which he believes contributed to the miscarriage of justice. He described the period in prison as physically and mentally exhausting, leading him to seek treatment at Mathari National Teaching and Referral Hospital to regain his mental health.

Even after his release, Mjomba continues to face threats from the former manager who framed him. “I no longer trust friends. I had trusted this guy, and he messed up my life. At the moment, I am struggling. I can’t even pay my own bills. To make it worse, he still threatens me via texts,” he told TUKO.co.ke.

The artist has appealed for support from well-wishers as he works to rebuild his life and trust in people. Those wishing to assist can contact him directly at +254 787 062092 or reach out via his social media platforms.

Mjomba’s story sheds light on the dangers of wrongful accusations and the lasting impact they can have on mental and physical well-being. His experience also underscores the importance of fair trials and the need for strong support systems for victims of false imprisonment.
