Riziki Alema Advises Men Against Paying School Fees for Girlfriends

Veteran gospel singer Riziki Alema has sparked conversation by advising men not to pay school fees for their girlfriends. The “Yesu Ni Jibu” hitmaker explained that education costs should be the responsibility of a woman’s parents, not her boyfriend.

In a video shared on social media, Alema emphasized that while men can show love and generosity in a relationship, funding a girlfriend’s education crosses a boundary. She noted that taking on such responsibility can create unnecessary stress for the man and blur the roles intended in a relationship.

“Young man, you have your girlfriend and you love her, but if you don’t want to be stressed in the future, don’t pay her school fees. Paying school fees is for the parents and her brothers, not for you. Don’t wear shoes that don’t fit you,” Alema said.

She added that if a man truly wants to support his partner’s education, it should be done within the context of marriage. “Marry her, make her the mother of your children, and then support her growth. But remember, she’s not yet your wife,” Alema explained.

Alema also addressed women, urging them not to financially support men. She argued that men are designed to provide, not take, and that giving money to a partner can undermine appreciation and love in a relationship. Women who earn more should focus on providing basics rather than funding a man’s needs as one would a spouse.

Her advice has reignited debate online, with many followers discussing the boundaries of financial support in relationships and the roles of men and women in romantic partnerships.

Alema’s message emphasizes maintaining clear responsibilities and respecting traditional relationship structures while supporting partners in appropriate ways.
