Social media personality Baba Talisha recently captured public attention after sharing WhatsApp conversations with a male fan who asked him to connect him with a wealthy older woman. The leaked chats, which quickly went viral, sparked a mix of amusement, concern, and debate among netizens.

The fan’s messages revealed desperation for financial support, with one text reading: “Can you tafutia me a mumama please. I am going through a lot. Need money kindly.” When Baba Talisha asked for clarification, the fan explained, “I am not talking about my mum. Or should I say that I need a sugar mummy. I just need someone who can support me financially. You can also tell me where to get one myself. Saidia Mluhya mwenza.”

Baba Talisha chose to make the exchange public to caution young men against seeking shortcuts to success. He wrote on social media, “I am using him as an example because ni wengi. Some of you small boys really think success means hunting sugar mummies or inboxing me daily for connections. Others think joining Freemasons is a shortcut to riches. Let me tell you something: real life is not about cheap shortcuts. Success without dignity is slavery.”

He also shared guidance for building sustainable success: “If you can’t respect yourself enough to build your own empire, you’ll always remain a beggar in another man’s kingdom. Work smart, protect your dignity, and build something you’ll be proud of tomorrow. Quick money fades, but self-respect and hard-earned success last forever. Stop chasing shortcuts. Be the man that sugar mummies and secret societies can never make you. Be the man that your children will call a role model.”

Baba Talisha reminded his followers that he is not infinitely wealthy and has personal responsibilities. “Many forget I’m also just trying to survive on the little I get. I’ve learned the hard way: some of those I once helped turned against me, blackmailed me, and never appreciated. That’s why I now choose peace. I only help where I genuinely can, because I also have a family to look after, bills to pay, and relatives back home depending on me. If I say I can’t, it’s not hate, it’s just reality. Please understand na usianze matusi,” he wrote.

Netizens responded with mixed reactions. Some expressed concern for the fan, others found humour in the situation, and many debated the challenges young men face. Comments included: “Bro don’t laugh cuz u don’t know what he’s going through before he says that,” and “If you have an economic problem, seek an economic solution. You can’t solve economic problem with a social solution.”

The incident underscores Baba Talisha’s commitment to promoting responsible decision-making and self-reliance among his followers. By using the fan’s request as a cautionary example, he highlighted the importance of dignity, hard work, and avoiding shortcuts in the pursuit of success.
