Renowned media personality Lulu Hassan has addressed circulating speculation regarding a possible political career ahead of Kenya’s 2027 general elections. The Citizen TV anchor clarified that reports linking her to the Mvita parliamentary seat are unfounded.
The rumors gained traction earlier this year when T-shirts featuring Lulu’s image and the phrase “Mama Mvita” appeared online. The slogan, commonly used by female leaders to build voter connection, fueled speculation that she might contest for the Mvita Constituency seat on an ODM ticket.
The issue resurfaced on November 11 after Alinur Mohamed shared a billboard on X (formerly Twitter) showing Lulu’s face with an orange backdrop, suggesting an ODM link. The post sparked debate online, with some users speculating she would leave her media career for politics, while others questioned her motives. Comments ranged from disbelief about leaving a high-paying job to assumptions about wealth protection.
TUKO.co.ke reached out to Lulu, who laughed off the claims and confirmed the billboard was fake, generated using Artificial Intelligence (AI). When asked if she plans to quit the newsroom for politics, she dismissed the idea outright. “Aiiii wuehh hapana,” she said.
Lulu Hassan’s clarification ends the rumors for now, reaffirming her commitment to her media career while showing her characteristic humor and poise in handling public speculation.
