Magdalene Takangiro, a rising star from Turkana County, is set to headline the runway at the grand finale of Africa’s Next Super Model. The event will take place on Saturday, November 22, at Broadwalk Mall, Nairobi, bringing together top emerging talents from across the continent.

Takangiro’s journey from humble beginnings to the global fashion stage has captured attention and admiration. She began her education learning under trees in Turkana, later completing high school in 2021. Determined to pursue both academics and her passion for fashion, she enrolled at Kabarak University for a degree in Clinical Medicine and Surgery. Her modeling journey started in 2024 when she was crowned Miss Kabarak University, setting the stage for her rise in the fashion world.

Her dedication quickly caught the attention of Isis Models Africa and Wave Management. Magdalene made a historic debut at Paris Fashion Week, opening for Yves Saint Laurent, a rare opportunity for a newcomer from Africa. This followed a challenging first season in Milan earlier in 2024, experiences that strengthened her resolve to succeed internationally. She is expected to graduate on December 19, 2025, balancing her studies with her modeling career.

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Magdalene expressed gratitude for the support that shaped her path. She credited her success to God and Isis Models Africa, particularly mentor Joan Okorodudu. “Africa’s Next Super Model is a beacon of hope for talented models like myself. I never imagined I would go this far,” she said.

Africa’s Next Super Model seeks to discover and celebrate Africa’s leading modeling talent. The competition has been a launchpad for many young models, following a rigorous scouting process that included Samburu County this year.

Magdalene’s recognition on the global stage comes after notable achievements at previous editions. In 2024, Chol Tot Nyang, a South Sudanese contestant from the Kakuma refugee camp, won the competition and KSh 645,000. Magdalene’s top-five finish earned her a chance to travel to Milan in February 2025 alongside the winner, marking another milestone in her growing career.

The November 22 finale promises to be a celebration of talent, resilience, and African beauty, with Magdalene Takangiro leading the showcase as a symbol of determination and inspiration for aspiring models across the continent.
