Kenya continues to mourn the sudden passing of gospel singer Betty Bayo, whose ministry left a lasting impact on many lives. Betty died on November 10 after a battle with leukaemia, leaving behind two children, Danivictor and Sky Victor, with her ex-husband Pastor Victor Kanyari.
Following her passing, close friend Sarah Mtalii revealed the plans Betty had made for her daughter Sky. Weeks before her death, Betty visited Sarah’s tours and travel agency to discuss vacation plans for her and Danivictor. During that visit, they also talked about Sky’s future.
“She wanted Sky to become a global citizen, and that is why she wanted her to go to places like Cambridge University summer camp and next year the summer camp at Harvard University. We had so many plans on how we would make our kids better than who we are. There is a museum she was talking about that is so good for children,” Sarah shared.
Sarah pledged to support Sky in achieving the dreams her mother had envisioned. “My pledge to Sky is that I will support her with all the dreams that her mum had and ensure that she achieves all those dreams. Poleni sana to the family and all of Betty’s friends,” she said.
She also recalled how Betty had been a strong pillar in her life, particularly during difficult times in her marriage. “She stood by me especially last year. We had big dreams with her to tour the world and to do many things in terms of investments. It was God’s will, and I pray that the dreams she had for her daughter will come true,” Sarah added.
Sarah’s revelation struck a chord with Kenyans online, with many urging her to keep her promise to Sky. Comments on social media included expressions of gratitude and admiration for her commitment. One user wrote, “Please keep your promise, and may God help you to make it happen.” Another said, “I want to have friends like her that I can willingly feel safe for my kids all the time, genuine. Sarah we will always remember this please keep this promise.” Sarah Mtalii’s pledge ensures that Betty Bayo’s vision for her daughter will continue, preserving the late singer’s legacy while offering Sky the opportunities her mother dreamed of.
