The Kenyan entertainment industry is mourning the untimely death of actor Bilal Wanjau, renowned for his roles in Tahidi High and Njoro Wa Uba. His passing has left colleagues, fans, and the public in shock and grief.

Sandra Dacha announced Wanjau’s death on social media, sharing a tearful tribute and a video capturing joyful moments they shared together. She revealed that the actor died due to complications related to diabetes and disclosed that his burial is scheduled for Friday, December 12, in Machakos. She asked Kenyans to keep him in their prayers.

Bilal’s final social media post on TikTok, dated August 5, reflected his vibrant spirit. In the video, he was seen singing passionately along to “The Lady in Red” by Chris De Burgh, showing a side of him full of life and energy.

Colleagues in the acting industry expressed their heartbreak over his passing. In an exclusive interview with TUKO.co.ke, actor Tony Sherman shared an emotional tribute, recalling Bilal’s cheerful presence on set and his memorable performances. “I’m heartbroken to hear the passing of Bilal, the great actor… always cheerful on set, cracking jokes each and every time. I remember when he did the role of an MCA, he brought it out perfectly. Rest in peace, BAZENGA,” Sherman said.

Fans also paid tribute to the late actor. Alaine Akinyi wrote: “Wanjau was one of the best actors of our times. He was passionate about his career and I will remember him for his great acting skills and advertising roles. From Tahidi High, Gavanq, Njoroge wa Uba to Hullabaloo Estate, he indeed left us entertained. He was talented! He is irreplaceable! May his soul rest in perfect peace. My prayers to his family and colleagues in the industry.”

Bilal Wanjau’s death leaves a void in Kenya’s acting scene. His contributions to television and advertising, combined with his joyful personality, ensured that he would be remembered fondly by colleagues and audiences alike. His legacy lives on through the memorable characters he brought to life on screen.
