Comedian-turned-activist Eric Omondi has officially begun construction of the Sisi kwa Sisi Help and Rescue Centre following a successful 486-kilometre charity walk from Nairobi to Mombasa. The initiative marks a major milestone in his philanthropic journey, which has supported Kenyans facing hardship over the past two years. Since launching the Sisi kwa Sisi movement, Eric has assisted victims of police brutality, students in dilapidated schools, persons with disabilities, and bereaved families. His hands-on approach has earned widespread admiration, and the project aims to create a lasting impact on communities in need.

The charity walk, which began on February 10 and concluded on Valentine’s Day, was both physically and mentally demanding. Eric battled exhaustion and sustained minor injuries during the first day, yet he remained committed to the cause. Supporters contributed by ‘buying’ kilometres, allowing them to fund the project even for stretches Eric could not walk due to safety concerns. The journey highlighted the importance of community support in achieving charitable goals. It also raised awareness about the forthcoming rescue centre, encouraging broader public participation and donations.

The Sisi kwa Sisi Help and Rescue Centre will feature a rescue house, a warehouse, administrative offices, a clinic, and two ambulances to assist those in urgent need. Eric also revealed plans to develop a free secondary school for needy students on additional land, ensuring long-term educational support alongside emergency services. The centre is designed to be a multi-purpose facility that addresses both immediate rescue needs and longer-term development for vulnerable populations. This comprehensive vision demonstrates Eric’s commitment to building sustainable support systems in Kenya.

Construction has now officially begun, with heavy machinery and workers preparing the site. While the exact location has not been disclosed, Eric shared videos documenting the early stages of development. He emphasized the collaborative nature of the project, encouraging well-wishers to continue contributing to ensure the centre’s completion and ongoing operation. “Team Sisi kwa Sisi, what was once a dream is becoming a reality. We are building the Sisi kwa Sisi Help and Rescue Centre,” Eric said, detailing the planned facilities and future expansion.

Eric Omondi’s initiative underscores the growing role of public figures in addressing social challenges through philanthropy. By mobilising resources and engaging communities directly, he has set a precedent for practical, hands-on activism. The Sisi kwa Sisi Help and Rescue Centre is poised to become a key resource for vulnerable Kenyans, combining emergency aid with long-term educational opportunities. Eric’s call for continued support demonstrates that collective action is essential for transforming ambitious visions into tangible outcomes. This project reflects both his commitment to giving back and the potential for charitable movements to create lasting social change.
