Here are resume words and cliches you should never use in your professional CVs
- Personal profile’ – I feel it is never right to use this word then highlight much personal information in your resume. It is better to go straight to the relevant points.
- ‘Team player’– Everyone in his resume claims to be a team player even those who are introvert in personality. It is more of a cliché in many resumes.
- ‘I’m passionate…’- Our resumes really shows how much we are passionate in doing something yet we cannot show it in the interview room.
- ‘My Curriculum Vitae’– This is always a repetition because the moment you have the right format and information required there is no need of repeating the same word. The reader knows it.
- ‘I’m a hardworking…’– Hardworking has been turned into a tune every resume has to sing. It appears either in objective or personal attributes.
- ‘I’m enthusiastic’– This word is mostly followed by passionate which make the two twin words monotonous to read in every resume read.
- ‘I’m fluent in…’– Perhaps if you consider using the word ‘proficiency’ will add some authenticity in your resume.
- ‘I’m social’– This is mostly a claim hardly justified by the interviewees actions. Being social should be showed in the activities you have participated in and your hobbies.
- ‘I’m a leader’– The leadership skills and experience should be presented in the credential presented and when asked a question about leadership in the interview.
- ‘Reading novels’– Many people own the scholarly title while applying for jobs in their resumes. Contrary to that they hold a different view in reading. This becomes a challenge when they are asked the latest novel. Never write hobbies just for the sake, know yourself.
