Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerbebrg has thrown his voice into the deep waters of the Donald Trump rule that has come to the truth.
As he had promised he started off with the Mexican wall, now on Saturday he signed a bill not to allow immigrants from seven coutires notably Iraq,Iran,Yemen,Libya, Somalia , Sudan and Syria.
But the CEO of the world leading social media Facebook seems to disagree and cautions Trump
My great grandfathers came to America from Germany, Poland and Austria. Priscilla’s parents were refugees from China and Vietnam. The United States is a nation of immigrants and we should be proud of that.
Like many of you, I am also concerned about the impact of the recent order signed by President Trump.
We need to keep the country safe, but we also need to focus on who really represents a threat.
Expanding the focus of the law beyond people who are real threats would make all Americans less secure by diverting resources, while millions of undocumented people who do not pose a threat will live in fear of deportation.
We must keep the doors open to refugees who need help. That is what we are. If we had closed the doors to the refugees a few decades ago, Priscilla’s family would not be here today.
That said, I’m glad President Trump is thinking of “handling the problem” for the immigrants who were brought in by their parents when they were young. Currently, some 750,000 immigrants benefit from the “Deferred Action for the Child Arrival” program (DACA), which allows them to live and work legally in the United States. I hope President Trump will continue to work together with his team to keep young people safe. Also in the following days I will meet with my team of FWD.us (an organization formed by several great of the technology that are preoccupied to maintain a healthy immigration for their country) to find out in which way we can help.
This problem is personal to me even beyond my family. A few years ago I gave a class at a local school where several of the students were undocumented. They are also the future. We are a nation of immigrants, and we all benefit when the best and brightest people in the world come to live, work and contribute together. I hope we can find the courage and compassion so that we can all live in peace and we can make the world a better place. Zuckerberg.
