Communications Intern – UNOPS

Functional responsibilities
Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Partnership Development Officer and in accordance with UNOPS policies, procedures and practices, the Communications intern will work towards strengthening UNOPS EAH communication materials both for internal and external purposes, and assist in the development of projects with the Partnership Development Officer.
Focus will be on the following:
Attend meetings and contribute to communications strategy and event planning
Assist with the coordination and logistical preparation for UNOPS KEOH events
Liaise with diplomats, civil society organizations and media to update contact lists and invite them to UNOPS events
Attend events, take photographs and assist with same day coordination
Write articles about the events as well as current affairs that involve UNOPS KEOH
Upload articles on the UNOPS website
Monitor UNOPS presence in the media and keep track articles written about UNOPS activities
Education
Must be enrolled in a University Degree Programme in Mass Communication or a related field from a reputable University. Applicants who have graduated from such studies within the recent three years will also be considered eligible for the position.
Experience
Experience in writing, editing and producing materials for website content is an added advantage.
Experience with content management systems and tools is desirable.
Working knowledge of photo editing software, online video publishing and experience with flash is an added advantage.
The ability to communicate simply, clearly and effectively with excellent written and editing skills is required.
An ability to work under pressure is desired.
An ability to work on a team is an added advantage
