” I eat, drink, sleep, breathe, and live FACEBOOK!”

Let me introduce myself to you. I am proud supporter of a social network site and that is a proven fact. I have a zest for life and am still studying through college. My only weakness in this life is an abnormal dependence to a substance known as a Facebook. My mom, brothers & sisters, and even my boyfriend do not understand that this is a religion for me.

I am a Christian don’t get me wrong but you can safely say that I practically worship Facebook and I will smile and let you get away with it. Hopefully one day it will catch up with you. Remember my star sign is Scorpio.
I don’t believe that I am going through a phase at all. This is huge, it’s not an obsession anymore.  It is way bigger than that. It is a lifestyle for me!

As I sit here staring at this blank page, I feel a certain urge to log in and just check who thought about me on this lovely day or who commented on my status update. But then again I have to finish my assignment first. Oh no please forgive me, I just had to check who poked me, for a few seconds. I am sorry.

I guess I resemble smokers who forever contemplate to quit smoking and they never do it. Generally, drug addicts are named junkies. A person who is addicted to junk food may also be referred to as a junkie as well. In that case I too qualify to wear a sticky tag that personifies me as a ‘FB junkie’ which shall hereafter be referred to as a Facebook addict. Come on… Now would be the right time for you to say ‘Hi junkie welcome to the group’. I know I am not the only one who needs therapy.

During my confession, as you greet me I shall appear nervous and bite my nails, look up and murmur ‘Thank you for having me, you are so kind’.

I eat, drink, sleep, breathe, and live FACEBOOK!

The thought of becoming a brand ambassador has also crossed my mind on numerous occasions.  Thank God I don’t smoke cigarettes because this addiction would have led to my premature death.
A day will not pass without me checking if there are any friendship requests, posting or comments on my wall, photo tags etc. To make matters worse, I receive notifications via sms directly on my mobile phone which makes me jump with joy knowing that someone has visited my wall.

I have met wonderful friends online and the relationships do not go any further than that. I am quite cynical over meeting strangers especially with the latest rape and death incidents. I do encourage my friends to make use of the site because there are informative links and pages that highlight issues ranging from police alerts, education, advertising, job search, Education institutions, skin care, fashion and style, mobile phone and service providers, important announcements, invites to gigs and so on.

It is not bad after all it depends on what people use the site for. I get turned off sometimes because some people like to post nudity and explicit contents which we can easily controlled by setting up your privacy and restrictions. Basically, this will filter and also ask for permission before anything grouse can be posted on my wall or profile.

We are all busy these days, caught up in our businesses. We tend to forget important matter like birthdays. The reminders help a lot when it comes to family and friends. People will feel special because you never forget their birthdays.

I hope one day, I will free myself from my disease. In the meantime let me………. like my post 🙂
