Madaraka Express To Snake Its Way To Online Booking

Since its launch, Madaraka Express has now operated for 6 days, with two trains leaving Nairobi and Mombasa respectively in opposite directions.

The carrying capacity is 1260 passengers with options of 1st, 2nd and third class. Due to long ques experienced at the terminus bookings, one will be able to book online

State house digital director of communication, Dennis Itumbi said the online service will be formalised sooner, enabling customers to pay via Mpesa and get to choose the class of the coach they want to board.

A unique key will be generated after payments have been made. Currently bookings are only available at the two main terminus.

Meanwhile passengers continue to enjoy a subsided 3rd class fare of sh.700 between Mombasa and Nairobi plus a free ride from Mombasa town to Mariakani terminus and Nairobi town to Syokimau terminus.
