University of Nairobi has shut down the varsity premises in Nairobi and asked the students to leave with immediate effect before today 9.00am.
Students have been asked to vacate the halls of residence with immediate effect but not later than 9.00am

This comes after today early morning students woke up to fresh demos blocking a section of Waiyaki way and Lower Kabete Road.

The demos are believed to have started as early as 2.00am as a section of students were seen lighting up fires and chanting pro Babu Owino and Anti-police chants.

The school has been on the spotlight few days ago after alleged excessive use of force by police officers on more than 2 occasions consecutively.
Students had previous week gone on peaceful demos to protest the arrest of former student leader Babu Owino, who is now MP for Embakassi.
