6 Times Foreign Media Got It Wrong With Kenya

Unfortunately on many occasions, the main stream media, where the public relies for the most verified news, has fallen prey to spreading fake news, and this has haunted down the victim more painful than the law suits filed against them.

 

1.Raila Poisoned

The Ugandan gutter press paper reported that NASA flag bearer Raila Odinga was put on excess sex stimulants which they reffred to us Viagra, the woman in question was Rachel Shebesh, who is vying for Nairobi Women Rep under the Jubilee Umbrella.

For those who know the two politicians, they belong in different political fronts, Shebesh similarly decamped from Raila’s side about a half a decade ago.

Raila suffered food poisoning when he attended a political rally in Nyeri, but he was later declared well days after treatment.

2.Eritrean men

A fake blog from Nigeria reported that Eritrean Embassy was encouraging foreign men to marry atleast 2 Eritrean ladies, and Kenyan men were highly preferred. The news went viral until the Eritrean government came clean to denounce the fake news.

3.Fox news

When Pope Francis visited Kenya, Fox News were all armed with bloody headlines, depicting Kenya to be a country large with disorder and less peace.

This saw a public outcry until Fox news apologized for the error.

4.Egypt attacked instead of Kenya

When a city of Egypt was attacked and scored killed, the place was easily consed to be Nairobi, several foreign media houses went ahead to report that the attack was actually in Nairobi yet the two states are only linked through River Nile which originates in Lake Victoria, which Kenya co-owns with Uganda and Tanzania

5.My dress my choice

About few years ago, atmost 3, Nairobi women went to road to protest over what was termed as freedom to where what they wished, this had followed a series of women being harassed and undressed due to wearing ‘too much’ revealing clothes

6.Country bus terror attack

When terrorist hit the bus terminus at the heart of Nairobi city centre, Machakos country bus, it was reported that Kenya was at war with itself, and KOT, aka Kenyans on Twitter put to task those who had reported the unverified news, until they rectified the error.
