Nakuru court reduced the jail term handed to James Mukangu Kimani. Mr. Kimani will now serve behind bars for a period of two years instead of the earlier three years.
Justice Joel Ngugi found out that Chief Magistrate Bernard Mararo erred in giving the man a fine of Ksh.50,000 instead of Ksh.10,000 on a different account.
The controversial man was charged on three different accounts as stated under the act
- Slaughtering and selling cat meat against the act of Foods, Drugs and Chemical Substances Act.
- He was also charged of slaughtering an animal not at a specified area
Kimani was arrested red handed when he was skinning a cat from a rail side about a month ago.
He said that he had sold more than 1000 cats to local Samosa vendors
