Commercial sex workers have invaded Narok Town ahead of wheat harvesting and Maasai Mara Game Reserve wild beast migration.
The sex workers from across the country and border (Uganda, Tanzania, Nakuru, Eldoret, Kericho, Nairobi, Central Kenya and Mombasa), are hoping to cash in from the farmers who will be harvesting wheat and the tourists who will be camping to witness the wildlife migration.
Narok produces more than 500,000 tones of wheat produced in the country. Already atleast 10 combined harvesters are in the town.
“There are commercial sex workers who come during the July and August (wheat) harvesting season. They invade Kericho during tea bonus season in November, in September they will be elsewhere,” Joshua Kamau, a farmer said.
Security will be on alert after claims that some commercial sex workers take advantage of farmers after drugging them.
Courtesy of Narok Officer Commanding Police Division Joseph Kisombe, police will launch patrols around Narok town, Suswa, Ntulele, Melili and Ololulung’a to deter any crime activity associated with the expected busy town.
