Kenyan popular athlete Nicholas Bett died on 8th August 2018 after a road crash near Lessos town.

According to police reports, Bett lost control before hitting a bump which led to his car landing in a ditch, killing him on spot.

His sudden death came just two days after landing down from Nigerian contest dubbed  2018 African Championships in Athletics.

The accident happened along Kapsabet-Eldoret road on his way back to Nairobi.

10 Facts you should know about Bett.

  1. He was born 28 years ago as Nicholas Kiplagat Bett  on 27, January 1990 .
  2. Bett was born in Uasin Gichu County
  3. He represented Kenya across the globe as a track and field athlete who competed in the 400 metres hurdles
  4. His best record stood at 47.79 seconds
  5. He has a twin brother Harun Koech who is also a 400 metres hurdles athlete
  6. He also claimed the 2015 and a two-time bronze medallist at the African Championships in Athletics.
  7. Bett made first breakthrough in 2010 when he came out as a junior finalist
  8. He joined Kenyan senior level in 2011 where his spectacular form made him pick third position during the  Kenyan Athletics Championships
  9. His first international games came in 2015 when he participated at the  Savo Games and Lappeenranta Games in Finland
  10. Before death Bett weighed 75Kgs with a height of 1.9M
