As the rest of the world mourns the demise of late Kofi Annan who took his last breathe on Saturday 18th August, State House Secretary Digital, New Media and Innovations Dennis Itumbi thinks otherwise.

Former U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan (R) receives a sealed envelope with a report on Kenya's post election violence in 2007 from Justice Philip Nyamu Waki.

Mr.Itumbi who was demoted by new State House spokesperson Kanze Dena felt uneasy while penning his tough tribute to the former UN Secretary General diplomat.

He faulted the late old man who saved Kenya from burning chaos in 2007, claiming that he attempted to block president Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto from vying in 2013 during which they had crimes  against humanity charges to answer along with six other Kenyans at International Criminal Court (ICC).

“I personally choose to remember Kofi Annan as the man who attempted to stop UhuRuto from being President and wanted them Jailed at ICC. Choices, he agreed with Johnie Carson, have consequences. Kenyan people ignored him and made their choice at the ballot anyway,” he posted on Facebook.

Itumbi reinstated that he will always stand for the ‘truth’ even in death moments.

“When I die write and fill my epitaph with truth, not flattery, poetry and flowers. As long as I live I will do the same, mourn in truth. That way I will be true to self,” he said.

BBC at one point quoted Annan’s statements that sided with Itumbi’s arguments.

“There must be confidence and trust by other nations and the international community. When you elect a leader who cannot do that, who will not be free and who will not be easily received, it is not in the interest of the country concerned, and the population, I’m sure, should understand that.

Late Ghanaian who died at 80, had in 2008 brokered a truce deal between strong rivals Raila Odinga and Mwai Kibaki after Kenya had lost more than 1000 lives while living more than 500,000 people homeless in PEV chaos.

Following then, Koffi Annan was given an envelope with a list of six Kenyans which he presented them to the then ICC prosecutor Luis Moreno Ocampo

Besides Mr Kenyatta and Mr Ruto, the envelope included former head of civil service Francis Muthaura, former Inspector of Police Hussein Ali Mohammed, former ODM chairman Henry Kosgey and radio journalist Joshua arap Sang.

Itumbi concluded his tribute by comforting his mourning family.

May God comfort his family and rest his soul, where only He can determine, in His Divine Wisdom,
