Police are considering using Recce Squad member Jennings Orlando Odhiambo rather as a state witness after interrogation.
Jennings Orlando told the homicide detectives that even though he was with Joseph Irungu on the night Monica Kimani was murdered, he did not accompany him to the house.
The lethal trained police officer attached to US embassy, changed his story after he had denied any knowledge of the happenings.
Orlando informed police that Jowie called him on the day before murder, 19th September for a drink in Nairobi from his house in Ruiru.
They two proceeded along with other two women to a bar in Kilimani where they had drinks for about 2 hrs from 6pm.
Jowie informed Orlando that he wanted to visit a friend who had come from South Sudan. Orlando and Jowie drove to Monica’s house using Jacky Maribe’s car but Orlando was dropped to a nearby petrol station in Kilimani where he was waiting him in a bar.
Jowie known to Orlando for only three months later returned around 11pm to pick him up. Orlando denied before police that he had set foot in the house Monica was found murdered.
Police started a search for a mysterious man who was seen with Jowie on the night of murder. Which resulted into Orlando’s recent arrest and detention.
Jowie who denied having met Monica on the night of murder, has pleaded not guilty with his girlfriend Jacky Maribe who is being treated also as a murder suspect.
“From his statement, we think he should be a witness rather than an accused person,” a detective familiar with the probe told the Star.
